Abstract | The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated telehealth adoption, showcasing its potential to mitigate healthcare disparities in the U.S. and globally, especially in underserved communities. However, barriers such as digital literacy deficits, inadequate infrastructure, cultural insensitivity, and socioeconomic challenges persist worldwide. This manuscript synthesizes insights from international and U.S.-based studies to comprehensively understand the barriers to telehealth adoption, pandemic-driven innovations, and evidence-based strategies for achieving equitable and sustainable telehealth expansion. This review integrates rigorous academic insights with actionable recommendations to empower stakeholders to foster global and regional healthcare equity. |
